Murder Investigation

On 10-26-22, at approx at 1533 hrs, WFPD officers were sent to a deceased person call at 1317 11th street #13.

Officers located 70 year old James Shierling, dob 05-04-52, deceased inside the apartment.

The death is being investigated as a homicide. Next of kin has been notified.

The investigation is ongoing.

Child Shooting Under Investigation

WFPD officers responded on 08-11-22 at 4:42 pm to the Riverbend Nature Center located at 2200 3rd Street in reference to gunshots.

The officers arrived and discovered that an 18-month-old boy was struck to the leg by a bullet. It is not known at this time from where the gunshot was fired.

The victim was taken to the URHCS by ambulance and later flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Ft. Worth, Texas.The child is expected to undergo surgery there.

Detectives Investigating 10th Homicide of 2022

WFPD officers responded at 12:11 am this morning to investigate an assault with a weapon at the Haystack Bar located at 315 N. Scott Street.

The officers arrived and found a black male, 34-year-old Cordera Sherrard Walker, deceased in the parking lot.

The WFPD detectives are investigating this case as the 10th murder in Wichita Falls for the year 2022.

15 Year Old Shooting Victim Passes – Investigation On-going

At approx 1741 hrs, officers responded to the ER in reference to a deceased 15 year old gunshot victim. Officers believe the shooting occurred in the area of 23rd/Grace. The investigation is on-going.

Meet Our New Crime Stoppers Coordinator

We are proud to introduce Officer Brian Arias as our new Wichita Falls Crime Stoppers Coordinator!

Officer Arias, a Wichita Falls are native, graduated from Rider High School and Midwestern State University.

He joined our department 8.5 years ago as a member of the 66th WFPD Training Academy and has never looked back.

He holds a Master Peace Officer license through TCOLE and has served as a patrol officer, misdemeanor investigator, and an intoxilyzer operator.

Officer Arias is excited about his new position and looks forward to more positive interactions with the community.

On 04/19/2022, between 4:56am – 5:38am, WFPD Officers were dispatched to three separate, but related, burglaries at the following locations:

1307 Holliday @ Burger King  (CN #22-041039)

4115 Jacksboro Hwy @ Sonic  (CN #22-041042)

3200 Kemp St @ Sonic  (CN # 22-041041)

The suspect in these burglaries appears to be a male, approximately 160-175 lbs, wearing a dark grey or black hoodie, face mask, white gloves, dark gray sweatpants that were sagging, red/white boxers, white socks and black/white Nike shoes. He was also carrying a black backpack. The suspect was seen arriving and leaving on foot.

Juvenile Suspect Arrested

A 15-year-old male was arrested today just south of Dallas, Texas under a Directive to Apprehend order related to a burglary of a residence that occurred here in Wichita Falls this Summer.

Once the juvenile male is transported to the Wichita County Juvenile Detention Center, WFPD Juvenile Detectives plan to file more charges on the male related to the recent bomb threats.

A Crime Stoppers tip aided the WFPD in identifying the juvenile male as the suspect. Thank you for your help, Wichita Falls!
