Traffic Stop leads to multiple Felony Charges

Sanchez, Robert 08171986On 08-27-14 Gang Task Force Officers observed a subject known to them as having warrants south on Taft Blvd Driving a 2006 White Chevrolet HHR. Officers initiated a traffic stop near Taft and Merrimac. The white HHR started to pull over then sped off at a high rate of speed turning West onto Merrimac. The HHR attempted to turn northbound onto the 2500 blk of Elmwood North and lost control. The driver, Robert Sanchez W/M 08-17-1986, was unable to make the turn crashing into the front yard of a vacant residence. Sanchez was taken into custody for the warrants, and Felony evading arrest.

During a search of the HHR officers located a stolen .40 Cal Pistol with a loaded magazine inserted and a loaded magazine in the center console. An undetermined amount of Crystal Methamphetamine was located all about the inside of the vehicle during the search.   A follow-up will be provided when that amount is determined. The HHR was seized and transported to a controlled facility to collect the Crystal Methamphetamine.

Sanchez was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Evading Arrest in Vehicle (Felony) and Theft of a Firearm.

Drug Search Warrant results in two Arrests this afternoon

Just after 3:00 P.M. this afternoon investigators from the Organized Crime Unit and Gang Task Force executed a narcotics search warrant at 4510 Kell West #304. A search of the hotel room revealed approximately one (1) ounce of methamphetamine, five point six (5.6) ounces of marijuana, in addition to scales and baggies used in the distribution of illegal controlled substances.

Kahlil Williams, black male, DOB 04-13-1980 was arrested for:

Charge #1 Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Methamphetamine) a 1st Degree Felony
Charge #2 Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces a State Jail Felony

Crystal Jaramillo, hispanic female, DOB 07-19-91, was arrested for:

Charge #1 Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 (Methamphetamine) a 1st Degree Felony
Charge #2 Possession of Marijuana over 4 ounces a State Jail Felony
Charge #3 Parole Violation
Charge #4 Violation of Gang Injunction

Both subjects were transported to the Wichita County Jail without incident.

Gang Task Force Seizes “Crack” Cocaine and Marijuana during traffic stop

On 07-04-14 WFPD Gang Task Force Officer Li stopped a silver 2004 Hyundai Elantra for a traffic offense in the 3400 Blk of Garfield. Officer Li approached the vehicle and detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside. Officer Li identified the driver as Jakaria Cooper 10-10-83 and the front right passenger was identified as Anthony Porch 03-25-87. During the investigation Officer Li located approximately 15 grams of crack cocaine on Jakaria Cooper and 10.1 Grams of Marihuana on Anthony Porch. Both subjects were arrested for the respective offense and transported to confinement without incident. The Hyundai was seized.

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO ARREST ON MULTIPLE CHARGES

On 05-13-14, at approx 0942 hrs, a WFPD Patrol Officer attempted to stop a black Hyundai Sonata in the 1000 blk of Redwood for a traffic offense.  The driver refused to stop and could be seen by the Officer reaching towards the front passenger seat and floorboard area of his vehicle.  The driver finally stopped the vehicle in a nearby apartment complex.  As the Officer approached the vehicle, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver had no drivers license and initially refused to get out of the vehicle.  Once he did exit, he refused to cooperate with the Officer and kept reaching towards his waistband area.  The driver began to struggle and fight with the Officer, striking him in the face.  The Officer was able to maintain control and place him under arrest.  The driver was identified as 22 year old David Hill.  A cigar and two plastic baggies, all of which contained marijuana, were found in the vehicle as was a BB gun.  Hill was arrested and transported to the Wichita Country Jail.  He was charged with Assault on a Public Servant, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Marijuana in a Drug Free Zone.
